Love their Marilyn Monroll...but I REALLY love their 12 o'clock (it's basically a couple of decorated raw oysters) which is my #1 reason to go to Mikuni. ;) Convenient location next to the movie theaters on Eureka and ample parking. Crowded sometimes, but only during hours that you'd expect most restaurants to be busy. Friendly staff, lively atmosphere, specialty rolls are a little on the pricey side. Mikuni is great for most people's idea of Japanese food and they'll be wowed by the variety of specialty rolls...but if you're looking for an authentic, high-quality "traditional" sushi experience, don't come here. You'll be disappointed.

I really can't recommend this place for anything. The sushi is decent, but I'm getting wary of eating raw fish at a "big-box" place like this. The rest of the menu is passable at best. Their veggie tempura was good, but when the tempura is the only thing I can praise a Japanese restaurant, something's amiss. Service is a bit bizarre here: they act annoyed to have to do anything, including take your order. Fine by me; I won't be coming back.

I have been a customer of Mikuni's since 1986 in Fair Oaks. I have enjoyed the food however the service has disappointed me for sometime. I feel rushed and not as a paying customer. Sometimes I feel that they have forgot the customer and the price we pay to enojoy sushi.

The sushi at mikuni is good. Not amazing, but not bad. But the quality of chicken that they try to pass off as edible is appalling!!! On more than one occasion, see I gave them another chance!, they served me chicken teriyaki with all the "gristle" still intact! It made me sick! Mikuni is obviously more worried about profit than properly cutting away inedible parts of the meat before serving it. Also, the service at Mikuni can really be hit-or-miss. AT BEST, you get a somewhat abrupt waiter that will at least remember all of your order and bring it at the appropriate time! At worst, you have to flag them down and ask for the rest of your order they forgot. After this (again) I cannot recommend this restaurant.
